What is weight pull?
The Weight Pull competition in Australia is run largly by Husky clubs and is for members and visitors. The idea of the competition is to see which dogs pulls the highest load compared to its body weight.
There are two groups, novice and open, with slightly differing rules for both. Dogs cannot compete in the open event until pulling three (3) qualifying weights in the novice group, and must be over 18 months of age.
Whilst this is a competition, our focus is on having a fun day out with our dogs. The welfare of the dog is first priority, and human enjoyment second, and competition third at these events. The clubs welcome all to come along and watch, or let your dog participate. It’s not just for Malamutes and Huskies either. Other breeds can, and do, participate. there are many staffords that participate.
